Hello hi hello and welcome to our first official installment of ~the group chat~!! I am your host, meredith aka wishbone, let’s get started.
ICYMI
I returned to the Hamptons this past weekend after a (lovely) 3 week hiatus. Some of you speculated that I was FIRED which is hilarious. So much so to the point that friends of friends of friends were pulling me aside at social gatherings asking me to confirm or deny. I can’t!!!!! If you MUST know, I took 2 weekends off for family commitments, and my clients didn’t need me for the third weekend. Mystery solved :)
It was a big weekend. My client’s 40th birthday weekend to be exact. You know the feeling of being out of the office for a while and on your first day back you’re hoping to just ease your way back in, but instead you’re in back to backs all day, you have a massive presentation due EOD tomorrow, you’re sick with a cold that you got while “resting” on vacation, and your team is OOO so you’re left to fend for yourself? Because same. Let’s just say I’m feeling feebs and frag (feeble and fragile).
What I’m loving:
I’m usually a savory breakfast gal, but during the summer months I’m a yogurt girlie through and through. It’s too hot for eggs!! I want berries and yog on repeat! My current yogurt fixation: Nounos. I discovered Nounos yogurt in Citarella last summer and I’ve been hooked ever since. It’s a family owned company making hand crafted, artisanal, small batch, traditional Greek yogurt. Say LESS!!! Don’t fret, you won’t have to venture all the way to Bridgehampton just for some yog, they also sell Nounos at Whole Foods!!! I get the vanilla bean flavor (passion fruit is also v good) and I’ll top her off with some granola and fresh fruit. Speaking of fruit, have any of you stumbled across a carton of Raspberry Apricots from Family Tree Farms yet??? BOMB.
What I’m hating:
Is it bad that I don’t like the *girl dinner* trend.. I don’t know it makes me sad!!! If you’re unfamiliar, “girl dinner” is essentially a snack plate that, in this case a girl, would have for dinner because she couldn’t be bothered to cook. FELT. I saw one comment saying something like, “If I lived with a man, this would never fly. I’d have to be making HelloFresh meals every night”. So essentially, “girl dinner” is symbolic of single women who don’t need to dedicate their precious free time towards feeding a man (FELTTTT) and insinuates that girls dont start cooking until they have a man in the house to cook for. This is the part that makes me sad! Like trust me, I too feel compelled to put a hell of a lot more effort into my home dinners when a man is around vs when it’s just me I’m feeding. But thinking about women who work full time and don’t particularly enjoy cooking yet still “have to” cook dinner for their significant others. JAIL! There’s a lot more to unpack here but yeah. LMK what you guys think in the comments.
What I’m excited about:
Omg wait ok. So….. I’m writing a cookbook!!!!!!! With an AMAZING PUBLISHER!!!! Ten Speed Press of Penguin Random House has put out some of my most favorite cookbooks of all time with some of my favorite chef’s of all time, so I could not be happier to be working with them on my DEBUT COOKBOOK WOOO! I’ve only really shared with friends or family so far, but I figured to let ya’ll in on it as well!!
Ok, now for the main event..
