Anyone who is out here spreading lies saying “summers almost over” “fall is almost here”, is engaging in reckless and unsustainable behavior. The last day of summer is September 21st. And if you are childless, and out of school, then you especially need to pipe down. You’re telling me you’re or about to look these peak season tomatoes peaches and plums in the face and say NEXT. PASS THE PUMPKIN COOKIE. PLEASE!!!
With that said, like summer tomato season extends well into September, sometimes into early October. So in the spirit of sustainability, I encourage you to block out the noise, put the pumpkins down (for now), grab some tomatoes, and eat with the seasons as nature intended.

I did not have the pleasure of attending the Paris Olympic Games. Instead, I hosted my very own Tomato Olympics, where I put 5 tomato recipes to the test and allowed my audience to determine which recipe would go home with the gold. The only rules, “whatever recipe got the highest engagement wins”.
We started off strong with the tomato sandwich, who held the lead for multiple days. Then the simple heirloom tomato bruschetta and panzanella salad recipes both fell flat with the judges (tough crowd). Out of no where came the grilled branzino with sauce vierge that ended up going viral (if were being honest tho, the virality was for reasons that had nothing to do with the recipe itself and everything to do with the story telling). Then we had a 15 minute pasta pomodoro that laded somewhere in the middle in terms of online engagement performance, but ended up being a crowd favorite in the kitchen. Making the pomodoro IRL engagement score, indicated by number of tags from people recreating this dish IRL, significantly stronger than its competitors. So we’re left with some decisions to make.
Now if you ask me, IRL engagement is the most important indicator of a successful recipe.. And for that reason, the gold is going to the pasta pomodoro, silver will be going to the tomato sandwich, and bronze to the grilled branzino. I understand not everyone is going to agree nor support this decision. But this is my newsletter so I’m in charge <3
As promised, the recipes are below.
